Been experimenting for a long time now with cubic mapping (.cub files in 3D Studio in DOS), and the modern applications like Autopano and Panocube makes it less hassle, although tweaking is the name of the game.

To control the quicktime movie at the top, either click and drag around the image to scroll around a 360 degree view, using the SHIFT key and the CTRL key (Mac users – APPLE key) to zoom IN / OUT. There are a few buttons on the top left that you can use too.
